In exercise of the
powers under sub-section (28) of Section 59 of the Prisons Act, 1894 (Act No. 9
of 1894), the Governor is pleased to make the following rules with a view to
amending the Uttar Pradesh Jail Manual as follows- (1) These rules may be
called the Uttar Pradesh Jail Manual (Amendment) Rules, 2014. (2) They shall come into
force with effect from the date of their publication in the Gazette. In the Uttar Pradesh
Jail Manual for the rules contained in Paras 1294, 1295, 1296, 1297 and 1298,
the following rules shall be substituted, namely-- "1293.
Uniform for Warder Cadre. (a) The uniform of a male
warder shall consist the following articles- 1.

Male Warder's uniform.- Note.- (1) Shirts and Angola
shirt-of the approved open neck, two pockets 15.24 cm, by 15.24 cm with 3.81 cm
box pleat, each pocket to have a flape 7.62 cm wide buttoned with an approved
pattern in button four plastic khaki buttons down the front, shoulder straps of
the same material buttoned with one plastic button each. Full sleeves. (2) Khaki woollen jersey
of 85, 90, 95 and 100 cm standard size with khaki drill cloth elbows. (3) Khaki woollen and
Cotton Socks of I.S.I. specification. (4) Khaki nylon belt 5.5
cm width with Crest bearing the words (5) The Forage caps,
shall have a small red coloured semi-circular piece at front along with a blue
piping around. (6) Whistle to be worn
attached to khaki Lanyard and carried in the left breast pocket. (7) Whistle Lanyard to be
worn over the left shoulder and passing under the shoulder strap. (8) R.A.F. Derby shoes
manufactured in Central Jail Agra. (9) Sikh Warder will wear
Khaki Pagdi instead of Forage Cape with Jail Department Crest. B.
Female Warder's uniform.- The uniform and
equipment of a female warder shall consist the following articles- (1) Khaki Salwar-suit
with Dupatta or (2) Khaki terycot shirt
& (3) Khaki terycot pant (4) Khaki Angola shirt (5) Khaki Sergo pant (6) Brown woollen Beret
Cap, with Brass badge of (7) Khaki woollen jersy
"Y" Neck (8) Khaki Jacket (9) Khaki Cotton Socks (10) Khaki Woollen Socks (11) Rain Coat (12) Ladies Belly Shoes
black (13) Whistle Cord (Brown
Garhwal Type) (14) Umbrella (15) Whistle (16) Name plate Black (in
Hindi) (17) Iron Box Female Warder's
uniform- Note.- (1) Female warder will
wear Salwar Suit with Dupatta or pant, shirt. (2) Khaki shirt and
Angola shirt shall be the same of male warder's pattern. (3) Ladies belly shoes
Black, manufactured in Central Jail Agra. (4) Warder Cadre
employees shall be equipped with one transparent strip on completion of 12 years
service, two transparent strips on completion of 20 years and three transparent strips on
completion of 26 years of service. 1294.
Head warder's uniform.- The uniform of head
warders shall be the same as prescribed for warders with the additions that
they shall put on five pointed yellow metal star as badge on shoulder strips. Omitted. 1296.
Warder staff to be provided with certain article of uniform free of charge.- (a) Every member of the
warder staff, shall be provided with the following article of uniform free of

uniforms every member of the warder staff shall be provided with uniform
allowance at the time of appointment and for renewal thereafter in accordance
with Government Order. Note.- Inner measurement of
iron box shall be 75x45x30 cm 1298.
Supplying jails and private forms.- The Inspector General
shall fix the jails and private firms for the supply of the different articles
of uniform and equipment for the jails staff and indents shall be sent to such
jails and firms in accordance with any instructions issued by the
