[1]KARNATAKA (LICENSING OF ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS AND
GRANT OF CERTIFICATES AND PERMITS TO ELECTRICAL SUPERVISORS AND WIREMEN)
(AMENDMENT) RULES, 1980
PREAMBLE
In exercise of the powers conferred by Rule 45 of
the Indian Electricity Rules, 1956, the Government of Karnataka hereby makes
the following rules further to amend the Karnataka (Licensing of Electrical
Contractors and Grant of Certificates and Permits to Electrical Supervisors and
Wiremen) Rules, 1976, namely.
Rule - 1. Title and commencement.
(1)
These
rules may be called the Karnataka (Licensing of Electrical Contractors and
Grant of Certificates and permits to Electrical Supervisors and Wiremen)
(Amendment) Rules, 1980.
(2)
They
shall come into force at once.
Rule - 2. Substitution of Rule 16.
For Rule 16 of the Karnataka Licensing of
Electricity Contractors and Grant of Certificates and permits to Electrical
Supervisors and Wiremen) Rules, 1976, (hereinafter referred to as the said
rules), the following rule shall be substituted, namely.--
"16. Duration and renewal of
licence.
(1)
Every
licence granted under sub-rule (3) of Rule 15 shall be valid for a period of
one year from the first of the month in which it is granted.
(2)
Any
licence may, subject to the same terms and conditions as are applicable to
grant of licence, excepting the requirement of solvency certificate, be renewed
for a further period of one year or two years or three years. An application
for renewal shall be made in Form 'E', three clear months before the date of
expiry of the licence and shall be accompanied by a challan or cash receipt for
the payment of renewal fee specified in sub-rule 3: Provided that the
Government may by previous notice to the licence require that the first
application for renewal made after the commencement of the Karnataka (Licensing
of Electrical Contractors and Grant of Certificates and Permits to Electrical
Supervisors and Wiremen) Amendment Rules, 1980, shall be for a period which may
be longer or shorter than the aforesaid further period of one year, two years
or three years by not more than six months and the renewal fee shall be
proportionately higher or lower, rounded off to the next higher rupee.
(3)
Renewal
fee shall be.
(a)
Seventy
five rupees per year for Class I Contractors Licence; and
(b)
fifty
rupees per year for Class II contractors licence; and
(c)
twenty-five
rupees per year for Class III Contractors licence.
(4)
Application
for renewal made after the due date may be accepted if it is made not more than
one month after the due date and is accompanied by a penal fee of twenty five
rupees in addition to the renewal fee specified in sub-rule (3).
(5)
All
applications for renewal received after one month from the due date shall be rejected".
Rule - 3. Substitution of Rule 27.
For Rule 27 of the said rules, the following shall
be substituted, namely.
"27. Duration and renewal of
permits.
(1)
Every
permit granted under Rules 19, 22 and 24 shall be valid for a period of one
year from the first of the month in which it is granted.
(2)
Any
such permit may be renewed for a further period of one year, two years or three
years. An application for renewal shall be made in Form "T-1" three
clear months before the expiry of the permit and shall be accompanied by a
challan or cash receipt for the payment of renewal fee specified in sub-rule
(3):
Provided that the Government may, by previous
notice to the permit holder, require that the first application for renewal
made after the commencement of the Karnataka (Licensing of Electrical
Contractors and Grant of Certificates and Permits to Electrical Supervisors and
Wiremen) (Amendment) Rules, 1980, shall be for a period which may be longer or
shorter than the aforesaid further period of one year, two years or three years
by not more them six months and the renewal fee shall be proportionately higher
or lower rounded off to the next higher rupee.
(3)
Renewal
fee shall be.
(a)
Twenty
five rupees per year for Industrial or Mining Electrical Supervisors Permit;
(b)
Ten
rupees per year for Wiremen's Permit.
(4)
Application
for renewal made after the due date may be accepted if it is made not more than
one month after the due date and is accompanied by a penal fee of fifteen
rupees in the case of Industrial or Mining Electrical Supervisors' Permit, and
ten rupees in the case of Wiremen's Permit in addition to the renewal fee
specified in sub-rule (3).
(5)
All
applications for renewal received after one month from the due date shall be
rejected".
Rule - 4. Substitution of Form "E".
For Form "E" of the said rules, the
following Form shall be substituted, namely.

Instructions.-- The application form should be duly
filled in and submitted to the Secretary, Electrical Licensing Examination
Advisory Board, Office of the Chief Electrical Inspector to Government of
Karnataka, Electrical Inspectorate Bangalore-I along with a Treasury/RBI/SBM
challan or cash receipt of the Inspectorate for renewal in token of having paid
the renewal fee as indicated below, as also 2 copies of the recent photograph
of the applicant with the date marked thereon (in case the photo affixed to the
existing permit enclosed to this application is more than 5 years old) and the
name and signature on front.

Important:
1.
