Preamble - COINAGE OF THE FIFTY PAISE, ONE RUPEE AND TWO RUPEES RULES, 2011 COINAGE OF THE FIFTY PAISE, ONE RUPEE AND TWO RUPEES RULES, 2011 PREAMBLE In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 21, read with Section 7 of the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely:-- (1) These rules may be called the Coinage of the Fifty Paise, One Rupee and Two Rupees Rules, 2011 (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. The Standard weight of the coins of Fifty Paisa One Rupee & Two Rupees denominations, coined under the provision of Section 6 of the Coinage Act, 1906, and the remedy allowed in making of such coins shall be as specified in the Table below :-- TABLE Denomination Standard Weight Remedy allowed in Composition Remedy allowed in Standard Weight (1) (2) (3) (4) Fifty Paise 2.83 Grams 1/100th plus or minus for Chromium, that is to say, Chromium could vary between 16% and 18% 1/25th plus or minus, that is to say, the weight could vary from 2.94 grams to 3.64 grams. One Rupee 3.79 Grams 1/100th plus or minus for Chromium, that is to say, Chromium could vary between 16% and 18% 1/25th plus or minus, that is to say, the weight could vary from 3.94 grams to 3.64 grams. Two Rupees 4.85 Grams 1/100th plus or minus for Chromium, that is to say, Chromium could vary between 16% and 18% 1/25th plus or minus, that is to say, the weight could vary from 5.04 grams to 4.65 grams.
