1. This bail petition for grant of regular bail has been instituted in FIR No.48/2021, dated 09.03.2021, registered under Sections 21 and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 at Police Station Indora, District Kangra, H.P. The FIR pertains to recovery of 500 Ridley Capsules (commercial quantity) and 10 grams of heroin.

2. The respondent has filed the status report and also produced the record.

3. According to the respondent, there are total 14 prosecution witnesses, out of which, seven have already been examined. The matter is now listed before the learned Trial Court for examining five more witnesses on 10th and 11th April, 2023.

4. In this view of the matter, learned counsel for the petitioner fairly submits that he will not press the present bail petition at this stage, however, direction may be issued to the learned Trial Court for expediting the trial.

5. Considering the fact that the FIR in question was registered on 09.03.2021 and the petitioner is behind the bars w.e.f. 09.03.2021 itself, there shall be a direction to the learned Trial Court to expedite the trial and conclude the same preferably within a period of six months from today. Learned Additional Advocate General has assured that the respondent-prosecution will not take unnecessary adjournments in the matter and will render all possible assistance to the learned Trial Court for speedy disposal of the trial.

6. The present petition is disposed of as withdrawn at this stage with liberty to the petitioner to file afresh at the appropriate stage in accordance with law, in case need so arises in future.

7. The Registry is directed to send a copy of this order to the learned Trial Court forthwith for compliance and further necessary action.
