THE GUJARAT PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2014

PREAMBLE

An Act further to amend the Gujarat Private Universities Act, 2009.

Whereas the Institute for Technology and Management (ITM Group), Mumbai and applied to the State Government under the provisions of the Gujarat Private Universities Act, 2009 (Guj. 8 of 2009) to establish a Private University in the State;

And whereas the said application has been scrutinized by the Scrutiny Committee and on the report of Scrutiny Committee, the State Government has issued the letter of intent to the sponsoring body for establishment of the Private University;

And whereas the State Government is satisfied that the sponsoring body has complied with the conditions of letter of intent as provided in Sec 10 of the said Act and has also established the Endowment Fund as per the letter of intent;

Now, therefore, the Government of Gujarat, in accordance with the provisions of Sec. 10 of said Act, includes the institution specified in column 2 of the Schedule as the Private University, by the name, location and jurisdiction, of the aforesaid sponsoring body as specified in column 4 of the Schedule.

It is hereby enacted in the Sixty-fifth Year of the Republic of India as follows:--

Section 1 - Short title and commencement

(1)     This Act may be called the Gujarat Private Universities (Amendment) Act, 2014.

(2)     It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.

Section 2 - Amendment of Schedule to Guj. 8 of 2009

In the Gujarat Private Universities Act, 2009 (Guj. 8 of 2009), in the Schedule, after the entry at serial No. 13, the following entry shall be inserted, namely:--
